It is my great honor and privilege to welcome you to The 2nd International Conference convened by the Department of Translation, College of Arts at Al-Noor University, held under the compelling title: "Shadows of Unspoken Meaning in Translation."
On behalf of the Scientific Committee, I extend my sincere appreciation to all researchers, academics, translators, and participants who have joined us from different institutions and countries to contribute to this important scholarly gathering.
Translation has never been a mere transfer of words from one language into another. It is an intellectual, cultural, and human endeavor that seeks to bridge worlds, preserve identities, and convey meanings that are often hidden beneath the surface of language. Beyond vocabulary and grammar lie emotions, intentions, silences, cultural references, and implicit meanings — the very "shadows" that challenge translators and enrich the art of translation itself.
Our conference theme invites us to explore those invisible dimensions of language: the nuances that resist direct equivalence, the cultural implications embedded in discourse, the ambiguities that shape interpretation, and the delicate responsibility borne by translators in conveying not only what is said, but also what is meant, implied, and felt.
In an age defined by globalization, digital communication, artificial intelligence, and intercultural interaction, the role of translation studies has become more vital than ever before. Today, translators are not simply linguistic mediators; they are cultural negotiators, interpreters of context, and guardians of meaning.
This conference represents a valuable academic platform for dialogue and intellectual exchange. It provides an opportunity for scholars to present innovative research, discuss contemporary challenges in translation studies, and examine the evolving relationship between language, culture, technology, and communication.
